Violin Answers

Ok, I have been playing violin for..eh.. about 2 1/2 months. I do enjoy it, I am pretty good at it, but then came the viola. I’ve always loved deeper music, lower notes. I saw the viola & thought it would be perfect for me. Is this too hard to try, or should I do it now before I get really good at violin?

I’ve always really liked the fiddle, probably my favorite instrument to listen to. But i can’t stamd it when i hear it played like a violin. And i been thinking about learning to play one, is it hard to learn to play on a busy schedule?

I have been playing the violin for 6 years now & I want to purchase a new violin. I already have one now but its more of a beginner violin. Although I have only been playing for 6 years I am a really good player. But because I’ve only been playing for 6 years I don’t think I should spend a drastic amount for the violin. So how much should I invest into a new violin?

wel, i’m totally new to both violin & western music
i’m just learning everything
so i found this violin finger board chart & also have a music sheet (of twinkle twinkle little star)
now i have a doubt…
same note could be played in different strings(which gives off completely different tones), & it just seemed wrong to play the way i want
for example i can play ‘B’ in both G & A string which gives off completely different tones
is there a rule as such stating i should be using certain string
i hope the question is clear
i’m sooo confused!!!!

yeah, it’s pretty advanced. but i think his concerto in F# minor is even harder.
so… this is the “easier” wieniawski.

I mean, i really want to learn how to play the piano, but are there any other great instruments like the piano?
and if not, i also love drums, but someitmes they might get too loud. I already know how to play cello & violin. Do you guys have any good interests?

i play my violin in half in hour chunks. half an hour before school half an hour after school & half an hour after dinner. i also play in a school orchestra & chamber music group should i rosin my bow always before a practice.

I recently bought a new violin & would like to practice outside this summer, but I’m afraid the heat might be bad for it. I usually practice around 3 hours a day…would that damage my violin if I’m outside?

I just traded a Nintendo NES for a sax & I really want to know how to play it. When I press the different keys, it never changes the note. Do you change the note with the position of your mouth? I play violin, so I have no idea what to do.

I’m 15. I haven’t even touched a piano in 5 years & I only got a few months of actual learning with is practically nothing now. Also, I didn’t even like pianos first. I tried the guitar 4 years ago, too. But, with only a few months of playing, I gave up. I feel like I selfishly wasted my life on video games & tv. Now, I want to try it again. I already have an upright piano in storage. Also, I want to get violin. I don’t really like holding the guitar, & that’s sort of why I don’t play it. I realize that learning to play even 1 instrument takes time. Do you think that this is possible?

What is the going rate for a *used* Luis & Clark carbon fiber violin in decent condition? Someone is offering me one, but I have no idea what a fair price would be. I’ve only seen 2 used ones listed for sale for around $5000, but don’t know if they ever actually sold at those prices. They go for about $5500 new. Violin dealers generally scoff at them as having no resale value at all since they haven’t gained widespread acceptance in the violin playing community. What is a good price for one of these?

I was at a luncheon yesterday & a friend who is about 65 told me that she has decided to take cello lessons – & she had called the cellist in my chamber music group to teach her! The guy who was cleaning my oil burner this week, knowing we are musicians (there is stuff all over the house . . ) asked if I knew anyone body who could start him in tenor banjo lessons! We get this all the time! Heck, at my age, I have decided that I need to work out with a personal trainer – started 3 weeks ago. Totally new experience for me – I have been a *bowl of Jello* for years. So – starting ANYTHING is good for you. Keeping it going is BETTER.
Call a GOOD teacher – one who has a degree in music, & preferably is a certified teacher – call our local school district. THOSE teachers will do more for you & have more patience than a college teacher, who is used to working with more advanced players. GOOD LUCK!!

lol my music teacher & I were discussing this yesterday at my lesson…
She said that as an adult if I don’t play anymore & I want to pick it up again, I should just open up my scale book, play a few, get familiarized with the fingerings & stuff. After that open up your book of studies or etudes & you can try & play a few of the old ones that you used to play. If you feel like you can, try going on to songs.
If you don’t have your music anymore, just go to a music store, buy a scale book (if you forgot the key signature for each one. if you know the key signatures for each scale it’s pointless to buy a scale book), & buy a study book. If you’re planning on sticking with it for good, be bold & pick out a book of pieces that you are sure you can play after practicing for a while. Don’t expect to be Vivaldi or something after 20 years of not playing.

Ok, so I play the violin & viola & would like to record myself playing a song in a greeting card….is this possible? I would like to record me playing We Wish You a Merry Christmas(or another holiday song) for this year’s Christmas cards.
Like can I buy those little chips you find in song cards?
Or are there cards that have that thing in them already that you can record the sound?

my parents forced me to play the violin in school when i didnt want to. I acted like i liked it..when i really didnt. i just wanted to make them happy. i told my mom that i need to make my won decisions. & she told me that she would talk to my dad about it. but she lied. & i havent played the violin in like a month & i really suck at it now. a few days ago my dad told me to play it. & my mom started laughing at me. i dont know what to do. my dad is getting mad at me. & i really just want to make him happy with me. i need serious advice!!
