Violin Answers

im 13, almost 14. do you think its still possible to learn how to play an electric guitar just for kicks? & does anyone know a good, brand besides fender & gibson? oh, & i intend to just youtube my way through this musical world, so is that a good idea? i REALLY dont wanna go & find a teacher. oh, & i play the violin & im pretty good, would that help?

Which would you rather play in front of an audience?

I hate violin but i also like it. I want to be able to play the violin well but i have no confidence to keep on going. I have a test coming up in school, andI have to play Hornpipe. I usually get a low A or a B on my test & I really want an A.
I also hate getting grades in Strings because other students in my class get 95s or 100s. I practice 2/7 days a week for maybe, uh, 30 minutes. I dont think it is enough ( nd this may be the problem) but i never practice more. PLEASE HELP!!!!

My brother’s friend said that it needs to be loosen because the fingerboard might break because of the tension..

I started the guitar when I was about 16, but didn’t play hard or long enough to develop large calluses. I had small ones, but they didn’t seem to interfere with the violin.
I haven’t been playing the violin for more than a year now, I am quite rusty. I have been playing the guitar for several hours a day, & have developed some whopper calluses. When I went to try to fiddle around with the voilin, I found that it was difficult to get my fingers where they should be, as I have relied on feeling the strings with my fingers. I can’t even feel if I’m pushing a string down or not … any suggestions?

Meaning, how long will it take with practice & determination to be able to play in a concert orchestra (not a statewide one though, more just a regional one)?

I’m playing my violin during the processional of my cousin’s wedding, & a couple of pieces she would like me to play are from the 2005 Pride & Prejudice (Dawn & Mrs. Darcy) Some of the themes play beautifully for solo violin but others are a little iffy since they’re made for the piano, does anyone have any ideas of how to make this music more violin-friendly? Or any good sheet music?

I’ve always loved the sound of the violin & have been curious about learning to play it, especially in the style you hear in Irish music. That looks very difficult. So just wondering I guess if a relatively old dog could learn new tricks or if this is one of those things you have to learn in your fomative years.
Any example of people who have learned to play only later in life would be inspirational!

So I’ve been playing violin for about… this would be my 6th year. I’ve suddenly had this feeling of wanting to play acoustic guitar, lol, probably because of the music I listen to all the time =O
But I was wondering if it would be hard to teach my self (through books, some friends possibly, online resources) to learn acoustic guitar. My friend told me it would be a lot easier for a violin player. You think so? =O
