Violin Answers

every time my violin gets close to being in tune the bridge will slam down… then i have to loosen the strings & try again. i am being really careful… the bridge keeps tilting with every string i tighten & eventually slams down. any tips

I’ve tuned the violin, but the ‘G’ key, fine tuner can’t be turned any longer, any advise. The tuner at the music store tuned it wrong & I’m having to tune it, again by myself. She tuned the ‘G’ key to a ‘F#’. Please advise. Thank you

i have done everything the instructions said with the pegs & the fine tuner but no matter what i do the electronic tuner still says its not right,please help

What was the “classical” music played in the “romantic bits”..It went….and this is going to read really stupid (unless you know what I mean)……..

I know that this sound really stupid but it’s been bugging me for years! It was very “violin-y”
I think that is was a contemporary classical tune & has been used in more comedic “modern” films to enhance the “romantic” moment!
Isn’t this what Y/A is all about?

ok im NO expert at tuning with pegs, so i neeeeed help please!!! my mom was gone while i tried tuning my D, so i couldnt have her do it… my violin was left in th car while shopping for awhile, & got wayyyy outta tune! like everything was flat. i got the G string tuned, but when i attempted the D, it broke:( i feel bad, cuz thats the 2nd time i broke a string. the problem at first was, i heard the correct D, but as i let go of the peg, it slid back:( so i tried pushing it a lillll bit farther…and SNAP! tips/help/advice pleaaaase. i know i sucked & am horrible at tuning with pegs, i already know. so please dont insult me:(

I’m assuming that from the design the guitar is also classical. (it looks almost like a violin but looks like an electric guitar also).
I am assuming one cannot tune this kind of guitar without having an amp. And my second question is is it possible for a guitar itself to go out of tune? Or the strings?
I put the strings on the wrong way the first time & it was hard (ended up pricking my finger on one of the thinner finer strings by accident so had a slight pain to go through).
An anonymous person told me that you do not need an amp to tune an acoustic-electric guitar but I think that is the whole point of the guitar..it is not an acoustic. I have tuned an acoustic guitar with no problem – so which is it do I need an amp or what?

i just thought maybe i can record it then put it in a little teddy bear for my friend lol as a little gift…and also, that song can be played on the violin too…

I have lyrics & a tune in my head. Anyone in Singapore who can help me put it down on a music score, do arrangement & help record it at a good pricing? Best if done with a violin. Thnx.

In the song “Tri-Angle” by DBSK, violins are heard playing a tune in the beginning. I’m pretty sure its a classical peice but I don’t know the name. So the question is, “what is the name of the opening tune in the song ‘Tri-Angle’ & who is the composer?”

Can you use a guitar/bass tuner to tune other string instruments like a violin & cello?

Its a classical tune, & I have heard it at weddings, & on movies about royalty. I know its hard to know without hearing it, but maybe some of you know just by that description. Its violins.

i play the violin & when my sub was teaching me how to tune, she said that the orchestra tunes to a certain instrument. i don’t remember what instrument to told me it was, can some one help please,
what is the name of the instrument that the orchestra tunes to?

My bridge popped out last night when I was performing (yes, VERY disastrous) so I re-set it this morning. I’m fairly certain I did it correctly. I put the feet between the notches on the F holes & as close to the original grooves it had left on my instrument as I could get it. I asked someone at the music store how to do it & I followed their instructions. When I tuned my instrument again, it went out of tune really easily as if I had just restrung it. Is that normal?

So I have a problem. I’m totally new to guitar, & the guitar came untuned. I thought it wouldn’t be much of a problem because tuning a violin is fairly simple, & I know how to do that. So I’ve tried tuning with my piano, & online tuner, & youtube videos but every time I hear a guitar on youtube it sounds different from what I had before.
The only way I found from a quick search was tuning by ear. You needed a string that was in tune to do this. It isn’t hard, I just need a string tuned correctly so i could do the rest!
How do I do this?!
Please help, without tuning I can’t practice & I want to practice as much as possible.

In my orchestra class we tune all our instruments every class meeting. The teacher has a box that makes an electric A tone & we’re supposed to tune our A string to that tone. Every time i tune my violin i adjust the sound so that the sound of my violin “overlaps” with the sound from this electric box, according to my ears the sound from my instrument & the sound from the box are indistinguishable & sound as if there is only 1 source. My teacher always comes over & tells me that this is wrong, & proceeds to tighten my string just a little bit more so the two are separate. Is what she doing correct, or is what im doing correct? How do you tune a violin?

Is there a way to fix this?

If anyone has watched the movie National Treasure – Book Of Secrets, shortly after the beginning of the final credits there is a very upbeat – & IMHO, moving – passage featuring some violin playing.
For anyone that’s familiar with what I’m talking about, could you suggest some songs/artists that feature similar performances, please? I’m interested in trying to seed a Pandora station with your suggestions to see what comes up.
Does this classify as a “classical” genre? It sounds a little more modern than what comes to my mind when I think of the term “classical”, but then again – I’m a rock ‘n roll kinda guy, so please pardon the ignorance.
