Violin Sounds Hollow?
I’m a beginner at the violin & when i strike some of the notes on the A string, it sounds really hollow & not rich at all. I have played other instruments & is really educated in the music field so i know how the notes should sound when its being played correctly.
is there any tips or ideas that you guys can give me to help me make the notes sound more rich & less hollow? the way i stroke the bow, the speed of my bow per stroke, the pressure on the bow, anything?
anything would really help alot. thanks
-ps. yes, my violin is tuned & i know where the notes are =P

What Settings On An Amp Make The Instrument Produce The Coolest Sounds?
I just bought a brand new Randall RM20B amplifier for my electric violin. I have no experience with amps & I want to make my violin have that grinding sound that rockers use all the time. What Guitar Effects Pedal Should I Get For My Violin So It Sounds Like An Electric Guitar?
I love playing rock music on my violin, but I also play a lot of different stuff. But I’m wanting to make my violin sound like an electric guitar, but not a shity sounding one, one that sounds like the real thing. I’d love to be in a band, but I don’t know of anyone in my area. Anyways help me out if you can, I just need to know the brand name of the foot effects pedal that I should try out.
Also if you want here is a link to my youtube account if you want to listen to what I have up right now, it’s not the greatest thing, but I haven’t had the time to record anything lately.

Violin Sounds Awful, Is It The Bow Or My Playing?
i’m new to playing violin. I just purchased a violin at a local thrift store, & it is used. well, when I play the violin t sounds scratchy & it squeals. I was wondering if this was due to the fact that I am a beginner & I’m playing it wrong or is it the bow. The reason I think it might be the bow is because there is a specific spot on the bow where the E string sounds scratchy. It sounds alright on the other parts though.
My Son Wants An Electric Violin That He Can Use To Make Rock Sounds, Sort Of Like An Electric Guitar Sound.?

How Do You Hold A Violin And Play It? What Does It Sounds Like?
Here’s a picture of how to hold the violin:http://www.8notes.com/cello_sheet_music.…
When you hold the violin, you need to tilt the violin slightly to the right. Be sure to center your arm under the violin. Place your chin & part of your cheek on the chinrest. If you have full cheeks, place more of your cheek than your chin on the chinrest. Don’t allow your elbow to touch your side. Don’t let your wrist touch the violin. Keep your hand open & fingers curved. Your wrist should be bent backwards like a claw. Place your thumb underneath the neck of the violin & keep your knuckle flat.
To hold the bow: Place thumb in the space at the bottom (the frog,) of the bow. Bend your thumb knuckle out so that it touches or almost touches the bow hair. Curl your first finger around the bow so that the bow is cradled in your first knuckle. It should be placed on to of where the two wrappings meet. Place the 2 middle fingers over the dot on the frog. The tip of pinky goes on top of the bow with the knuckle bent out. Make sure your hand hangs from the wrist & your elbow points.
How the violin sounds depends upon how good the player is, how nice the violin & bow are, what kind of strings you have on your violin & what kind of rosin you use on the bow. The violin sounds pretty good when I play it because I have been playing for a long time. Beginners usually don’t sound very good, but they don’t care because they are just happy to be playing, & if they keep practicing, pretty soon they will sound good.

Violin Help! When I Tune My Violin The String A Sounds Like G Is It Normal??? What Should I Do??
Your string is simply out of tune, no biggie, just tune it up a whole step. You can use a chromatic tuner, just make sure that the letter A is on the screen, & make sure you don’t tune it up higher, the string could pop. If you don’t feel comfortable, have someone you trust tune it for you. Best of luck with your violin.
