Violin Answers

I have been playing the violin for 6 years now & I want to purchase a new violin. I already have one now but its more of a beginner violin. Although I have only been playing for 6 years I am a really good player. But because I’ve only been playing for 6 years I don’t think I should spend a drastic amount for the violin. So how much should I invest into a new violin?

I mean, i really want to learn how to play the piano, but are there any other great instruments like the piano?
and if not, i also love drums, but someitmes they might get too loud. I already know how to play cello & violin. Do you guys have any good interests?

i play my violin in half in hour chunks. half an hour before school half an hour after school & half an hour after dinner. i also play in a school orchestra & chamber music group should i rosin my bow always before a practice.

I don’t really care about how hard it is to learn but go for it anyways.
I’m thinking of learning the piano first cause i want to replay some songs that like such as moonlight sonata movement 1.
I’m probably not going to learn these until i finish some stuff that i got to do such as school, working out for a sport team, Study hard, homework, etc etc. so in about 3 years of high school.

I have a child size acoustic Squier guitar & hard case, a child size Cremona violin with two bows in a nice hard case, & a regular size Gemeinhardt flute in a nice hard case, all used.
I want to sell them on craigs list, they’re all in fairly good condition. Does anyone know how much I could sell them for?

I am looking into either the viola or the violin. I want to know how difficult it is to learn to play them, I have musical experience, but in choir not an instrument like this. Any suggestions about which is best or what I could do for lessons. Also, how much does it usually cost to buy one? To rent?

ok i quitted piano & i was doing piano for about 2 1/2 years & i started doing the saxophone last year for band. i wanna do: cello or electric guitar or electric violin. which one? which on is eaiser? do you play one of those insterments? if u do plz tell me about it! thx

My girlfriend of six months left last wednesday to go back to her husband. When I met her she lied to me & told me that she had been divorced for eight years. I believe it. Then I found out that she was only separated & she was only recently separatated when I met her. I met her in September & they had separated in July, he walked out on her…I let her move in with me in January & everything seemed fine. She was happy with me or so she said & up until the last day played it like a fine tuned violin. “I love you baby” “I miss you baby” “I need you baby” were her favorites to me. On March 31st…I went to work & when I came home she was gone & she left a note that said Patrick, you deserve better, I’m sorry but I have to do what I have to do, I love you, you deserve better….Didn’t even sign the damn note. Took the ring I gave her & the diamond earrings but left a ton of clothes. She did take some clothes. I contacted her Mom & her son & she called me & left a very nasty message about do not contact them & do not call her back. She said when something doesn’t work, it don’t work. However, she never told me it didn’t work. I thought it was working. I don’t know what to do. Her husband is a control freak & so she can’t get online & her phone ran out of minutes & he won’t put minutes on it. Why would she leave? Was it me? Will she contact me again? This is all new to me. I was really good to her. She didn’t even have to work & didn’t work. Please help.

I played violin a great deal in middle & high school. I also played a little bit in college. I would consider myself intermediate as far as experience goes. Which level of Suzuki should I purchase to begin playing the violin again?

If you know about the prices of violins in the UK, please answer!
I got my violin 7 or 8 years ago, & I think it cost £1-1.5k, plus a bow that at least does it justice. It’s German, circa 1850-1880. Those are the only details I have, except that it has a lion’s head for a scroll & I love it!
I’m just wondering how much it would sell for if I were to do a part exchange – my plan is to (possibly) buy a slightly cheaper acoustic instrument so that I can get an electric one too.

I used to play the violin, & I liked it but it wasn’t a passion, so I quit. I still play around with it from time to time, but not very much. However, a really good friend of mine has always wanted to play but can’t because of a condition he has, & it makes his hands hurt too much.
He & I went to a music store the other day & were playing on the electric violins & he could only play for a few minutes before it started really hurting him. I felt so guilty for being able to play but not really loving it, because he really loves it & can’t play.
I feel bad because I kind of wanted to take the violin back up anyway & see if I can get back into it, but I don’t want to if it means he’ll feel bad. Help!

I have been playing violin for 12 years. I love playing violin, & love teaching people ……and would love a little extra $$$

I’m wondering how often I should polish my violin. I play it at school every day & the rosin can build up under the strings by the bridge if I forget to wipe it after I play (this happens often).
The violin is 93 years old. It has a nice pale-orange varnish on it.
I have a bottle of polish that my mom bought. It has Fiddlebrite written on it. I’m not sure if I should use it on this violin or not.

Should I loosen the strings? I know it needs to be in a “controlled” environment. What about excess humidity (I’m in Ohio)??

I am in 5th grade & I am creating an arrangment of Canon in D on the violin / cello for my school’s string quartet. I think it might be a little too hard to play the whole thing, which is a full 32 measures & we havent even started playing more that 10 measures. How many measures should I play?

thats all i can have the option to play. I want something that wont be really really hard but has a nice sound. Which one is kinda easy to get the hang of?? & which one should i play or would be suitable for me?? please help

I have been researching sooo muich on these 2 instruments for 4 months everyday when i get home from school for 2 hours! But for some reason, i cant figure out which one I want to play! My birthday is coming up, & i wanna get an instrument for my birthday. So, i am still thinking right now.
At first, i was totally thinking about the flute, since my best friend plays it & she is willing to teach me. I was gonna ask my mom & dad to buy me the flute, but first i did a little research on it to finalize. Then, i went to youtube to listen to some songs played by the flute. Accidentally, i clicked on a song played by a violin. i just listened to it, & was surprised of how beautiful it sounded. Thats what got me to this position.
Now, can someone tell me why the violin is hard? cause when i was watching the video, it looked fairly easy. but when i checked online, sooo many people say its one of the most hardest instruments to play.
i know not everything is easy, but i cant seem to figure out what i want. i would love to play both, but my parents will only buy one instrument for me.
Could someone tell me what are the pros & cons of the flute & the violin?
and, i would have chosen the flute already, but im afraid of losing my breath while i play. My best friend will help me, but i still think i wont be able to have enough breath to do it.
As for the violin, im afraid of hurting my fingers . & do you press on the strings? just wondering because i havent played a string instrument.
By the way, Im a Middle School student who is 10 yrs old who can play piano, but cant read sheet music.(i play by ear). I am willing to do anything! But, i need your opinion! Thank you!!!!^_^
P.S, do you need to be able to read sheet music in order to play an instrument?(besides the piano?) thanx in advance(again…)
