Violin Answers

I am 14. I haven’t played music (the violin) since I was 7 or 8. I want to either play the piano or the guitar.
I can play the piano a little bit but not that much.
I have never played the guitar.

Any suggestions would truly be appreciated. I had heard this one song some years ago on neopets & it was beautiful. I remember the tune but I dont think theres any way that I can express it. EIther way, I’ll appreciate anything you guys give. Thanks ;D

I want to play duet music for violin & piano. I will be playing my B flat clarinet for the violin part & the piano would be played. How do I transpose the music for my clarinet?

I remember when I was young, my parents made me take piano lessons. They said it was one thing to be educated but it is another thing to be cultured.

I’ve been playing the violin for about 9 years now, & I played piano for about a year when I was really young, so I know where the notes are & stuff (but I’m only proficient at reading treble cleft). Electric bass seems easier to learn with tabs than playing multiple chords on the piano. Which one should I choose to do?

I am in the process of choosing classes for sophomore year of high school & I decided to play an instrument. The problem is.. I don’t know what instrument to play! I already know how to read notes. I have played the flute in sixth grade but I didn’t like it that much. Since my mom probably threw away the electric keyboard I had since I was four, I probably wouldn’t have anything to practice my piano playing on. My school would let me rent the violin though. Which instrument do you think is harder & why? Which one should I start out with?

I heard a song, very soothing, it was a piano & a violin playing very softly. the piano played 4 notes in a row repeatedly 4 times, then it would switch to 4 different notes repeatedly 4 times & so on. the notes were played in a sort of scale, starting with the highest note & going lower with every note.
If you know this song PLEASE let me know i want to hear it again so bad!

Your first responder makes some very good points.
However, I would beg to differ with him in this way. Given that the anatomophysiology of a student is not impaired in anyway, with the violin there’s much more to producing a good sound than just the striking of a key as with the piano.
To bring together the bowing of the right hand with that of the exact digits placement of the left in perfect co-ordination, the inability to do so quite often discourages a violin student to continue with their attempts to master the instrument.
So overall, I would contend that the violin is harder to learn how to play than the piano: my apologies.

I can find music for piano only & for violin only, but not for both instruments together. Anyone have & ideas or clues?

I have played piano for about 7 years & am quite good, but I’m looking at playing the violin next. Will playing the piano make it any easier to play the violin? Or will it not matter because the violin is a string instrument & completely different? Thanks!
