I’m Way Ahead With My Violin And Have Nothing Other To Do? Ideas?
i started violin lessons a few months ago, & we just learnt to put our 1st finger down. she gave my group a two tunes & half a tune to practice, i have learnt them all off by heart & played the half one, its easy. i taught myself the rest of the tunes in the 2nd finger bit that she didn’t teach to us, so now i am reallllyy ahead of my group, & have nothing new to practice over christmas. i think i should teach myself second finger, theres no point in playing the same tunes over & over, becuase i know them all!

“There is a painting that many women in my family have had & I really want to find it. It is a picture of two girls/women. There is one playing the piano & the other one is playing the violin. There is a really pretty winding staircase in the background. I was told that the painter was possibly Frederic Mizen. I want to know where I can find a print of it. ”

I am a violin amateur. At times my fingers get painful because of the contact between my fingers & the string esp doing the vibrato, also shifting. I assume all the professional violinists gradually get used to this discomfort. I watched a documentary on violin recently which reported the early violins had strings made of some totally different material though they were not as good as the ones we use today. But I am wondering if there are alternatives on the market for violinists. Maybe of a softer texture?? Please share your knowledge on the subject

What Kind Of Strings Do You Use For Violin Family Instruments Or Other Stringed Instruments?
I just recently switched from metal strings to perlon (a type of nylon) core strings on my violin. The perlon strings have a definite character that my steel core strings did not have. I will probably get gut strings next time, because I have heard they are even better.
