Violin Answers

It is a new tune that it plays a violin almost the entire song, & has Martin Luther King Jr. going off in the back ground

I ask this because I am interested in taking up the esraj. I am good at the guitar, but have never used a bow & the esraj uses a bow. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

I am writing a major true story screenplay & I need some good sounding grief violin orchestra music to cover the hero’s side at a fast pace he moves along in a jet after a major victory disaster can some one paste some violin orchestra or do you know of a orchestra who could compose a sound track?

I am doing a talent show & my teacher want the sheet music to the song for the violin.

Mine are rather short compared to others that I see & I just got to thinking, gosh this is hard to word but … um… god. So if I have a 4×4 violin full size & I have short fingers does that mean that I need a 3×4 violin & keep my bow because my bow is the right size?
If that makes no sense with the sizing its alright because i am an odd one.
But any input, & help would be loved.
I mean I want to make sure I have the right …. ability to play the violin before I take lessons…. .

what do you need so you can play the electric violin?? & do you have any sites that sell the stuff?

Hey guys I just bought myself a practice violin, one of those cheap kits for beginners… it comes with a violin with the strings & whatnot, a bow, & some rosin. Well it sounds tin like- I was wondering how much of an improvement it would be to buy a new bridge, new strings, & a new bow. Obviously I know this practice violin isn’t going to sound great, but how much would replacing these things help? Thanks all for your time

I have a concert coming up & i need help to keep my left arm from hurting when i keep it up for a long time. I usually rest my arm while i’m playing when i practice, but i cant do that during the concert of course. What can i do to keep it from hurting?

i would like to find out more because i’m doing some research for a short story im writing but i cant seem to find anything online .

I purchased a brand new violin, but when I play, I seem to be hitting two string at a time when I’m only aiming to hit one. What is the problem here & how can I fox it. Will it cost much to repair the problem?

I am teaching myself how to (Irish) fiddle & I believe Im doing a good job except that sometimes I get this horrible screeching, scratching, & sliding, no matter how straight my bowing is! When I pluck the strings they sound fine so its not my fingering either. I think it may be my rosin. It came with my outfit & though I don’t know much about rosin it appears to be as cheap as it gets! It comes off so easily & if I play for more than thirty minutes or so I have to stop & reapply because my bow starts sliding & producing a screeching noise! Also it leaves a coating on my strings, though Im pretty sure I don’t put on too much. I want to try a higher quality rosin but Im not sure what kind. I have a horse hair bow & once summer comes around it will be very very humid (humidity adds an average of 10 to 20 degrees to the heat index around my area). Im thinking of trying Hill or Jade but I may try another based on recommendations. I would prefer a commonly carried brand so I don’t have to order it.

Oh! Could it also be my bow? The violin itself sounds amazing & was hand crafted but I dont know about the bow, should I try a higher quality bow while Im at it?

I’ve been playing violin for a couple years now, but I still have several problems. They are:
1) Before I play, I always make sure that the violin is level. But while I play, the violin starts dropping & points slightly downward, making it hard to play double-stops. Am I not holding the violin right? What can I do if I’m not?
2) I have trouble with double stops. Should I just keep practicing, or is there a way to make this easier?
3) After I play, there are deep grooves in my fingertips from the strings. I’ve played for a while & the skin on my fingers is fairly tough. Am I pressing too hard? How do I break this habit?

I play the violin but i am composing a piece for my class i need a reference of the notes on the alto clef to the treble clef. so that way i can better compose & harmonize.

I currently live in northern California, a relatively dry, cold place, & I use a humidifier for my acoustic violin. I plan on buying an electric violin from Shar Music, a wonderful company which I have bought from before, & which I’m sure many of you string players are familiar with. I am not sure if it would need a humidifier because it has a plastic frame, but the main parts are wood. Can someone tell me please?? Thanks!

I have a 1925 violin made in Germany size 4/4 fully restored with brand new case & bow

It looks like (for violin) :
1. a slow & fast movement from a19th/20th century concerto
2.one movement from unaccompanied Bach sonata or partita.
3. one Paganini caprice
You have to submit these on a tape or CD in order to get an invitation to a live audition.
