Violin Answers

Hi,
3 months ago, I received a gift from my partner for my electric violin. It is a Behringer Tube Ultragrain MIC100
I have not used this most of the tinme since I am not a technical person even after reading the manual plus the technicians who mixes the sound find the instructions difficult to comprehend.
My questions are:
1.) How do we make the most of this MIC100- I mean what are the recommended settings?
2.) Is MIC100 can be REALLY used for electric violin?
3.) DO I have to purchase another set of cables? If yes can you recommend what types?

I was told that the pegs were for major adjustments, so do professional violins come out of tune more often?

im talking about violons, violas, cellos, Double basses. I heard that the viola is the hardest.

Andrew all the way!!!! I fell in love with this song when he was playing it, so much emotion! Honestly brought a tear to my eye. Everything about it worked, his voice, the violins, sitting on a chair, the outfit. Andrew was great & hes in it to win it!!!
I never really cared for this song before.

i need to know which of the recordings by the various artists is closer to Bach had written.

11. It’s not easy. Oh at first you can figure out where to put your fingers & some of the first noteson the scale, but technique, that’s difficult.

I’m trying to learn some awesome ‘guitar hero’ type songs for my electric violin–I’m looking for the Metallica ‘One’ type of thing, you know? The minor, pretty, yet impressive type of song. Any suggestions would be great, guys. =]

I played the violin for years when I was young, & have recently started taking lessons again (as an adult). I’m trying to decide which pieces to think about working on since my teacher has left it up to me, but I realized I don’t know what pieces I should eventually have in my repertoire. I’ve played parts of the Mendelssohn, the easy part of the Tchaikovsky. I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew. Just want to know what’s out there – what my goal should be. Thanks!

I believe that the (reverse) discrimination involving Asian students has to do with the fact that in some parts of Asia, if you study music, it’s not just a self-improvement thing, but is taken very seriously. As a result, the Asian student we see here are always the cream of the crop, so to speak,. & we get the impression that all Asian are geniuses.
But I am sure there are just as many dumb people in China (say) than in America; we just don’t see them enrolled in our graduate schools.

Like the rest of us, I’ve been inspired by the bowed-guitar playing of the likes of Jimmy Page & more recently, the chap from sigur ros. I gather it is very difficult to achieve a good sound due to poor access to the seperate strings, & guitar pickups inability to pick up bowed sounds.
I’ve literally just got given a violin bow to play with, & I don’t know where to start. There is the obvious ‘add tons of reverb/delay’, but can anyone offer any more advice? Particularly information on how it is used in sigur ros’ music.
