Violin Answers

That would be rosin, but I wouldn’t try putting it on the strings. I would stick with the bow. =P
It’s not actually a stone, it’s a solid resin.
It comes in two varieties (yes, you can but nicer, more expensive rosin, or cheap rosin, but I’m not talking about that) – Light & dark. Dark can be used for violins, violas, cellos, & basses. Light is just for violins (and maybe violas?) & cannot be used for cellos. Dark rosin is not as yellow.

Or a piano or Cello or Guitar etc It usually looks …..?

Not techinally stray, more like they are more loose then the others. It is on the inside of the bow, not on the side that hits the strings. There are a few hairs kind of dipping out. Is this normal?

does even the bestest of the best have trouble at the beginning? & also, i have really small, stubby, & fat hands & i am having the biggest trouble trying to play. my gparents got me lessons & everytime i play or do what my director sais i ALWAYS mess up & the pads of my fingers keep hitting the string under the string im playing & im really getting discouraged. i have problems like this with the guitar & piano as well & i find it soo not fair. is this natural at the beginning? thanks

I was just given a rather older violin by a friend of mine & I bought a replacement bow. But I compared the two bows… the new one I bought’s strings aren’t tight enough or something.

being an accomplished classically trained violinist it is almost impossible to learn the violin without personal lessons . Please find a music teacher that is willing to teach you violin . congrats on choosing one of the most beautifull instruments in my opinion to learn to play & I wish you much luck . god bless you .

I am able to identify any key in the piano without a reference pitch
But while tuning my violin I often make mistakes without a reference pitch
That is I don’t exactly tune as shown in my chromatic tuner
the chromatic tuner shows a little difference in precision if i tune by ear
But I am able to identify the exact note on the piano without a reference pitch
