Violin Answers

i have played guitar a few years now, & i plan on starting violin soon, & i already play guitar. how is it to play compared to guitar, & what are the string tunings?

I’m starting violin but i really like the sound of the viola. Im thinking of first learning how to play the violin & then switching to viola, so is it hard? This is tormenting since I really love both!

I’m 24 & would like to learn to play violin. I’m not musical at all, can’t sing & have no rythm whatsoever , is it even worth it for me to try to learn play the violin?
Would my age be a problem?
Anything else?

Or is it the strings that came with the instrument? I have not yet changed them. I tuned them well & all. I got this Cello a few days ago & I have not been able to play any notes other than open strings. Well, at least not that clearly & without pain! I’m a beginner & have not found any teachers yet. Besides, I can’t afford one right now (not after purchasing this Cello; gonna have to save some cash again for that).
The thing is, it doesn’t hurt in the tip of my fingers (I also play Violin & Guitar, so my fingers have callouses), it hurts in that part of my lower arm underneath the wrist; it’s like muscle strain from the force I have to make to press down. I’m getting a little discouraged because of this. My mom suggest that I go change the Cello & all, but I know that this problem can be solved without going to that extreme! Even by me! And I don’t want to change this Cello; at least not yet in a long time. I have come to feel that it can be my voice (he’s so beautiful too, & resonant. And smells good too ) Well, are Celli supposed to be this way? Or is the cheap strings that came with it that are too heavy? How do I know the problem is not the bridge or the nut?

I’ve played piano & viola/violin. Do you think it would be hard for me to learn electric guitar? I’m considering buying a second-hand one. So how do I know if it’s good?

Next time note your hand position! The Spicatto requires a different hand pitch than all other movements!

I’ve played the piano almost all my life, & even now – it’s not very easy for me. Although, I don’t want to quit it, & I don’t want it to be my only instrument. My family is a musical Irish family & I find the upbeat tunes of the Irish Fiddle close to my heart. I’ve never touched a fiddle / violin though. Is playing the Irish Fiddle hard to play?

If you want to learn the violin & you are not just looking for something that you can do great in a short time, go for it.
Please take lessons or classes. Without a lot of help you will quit soon. The first 6 months you really must have help.

I can kinda/sorta read music, I took grade 1 piano & have been playing guitar & singing for awhile. And by kinda/sorta i mean i can play in C major due to the lack of sharps & flats. And one other question can you sing while you play violin? like on a guitar?

and is the piano one of the easiest instruments to play?

Any songs that sound hard to play, of profetional? They have to be solos, a good example is Pertetual Motion. It sounds profetional, its a solo. Anything? 10 points to best answer!!

My right & left hand coordination is really bad, its like, my left hand taps the table with a 4/4 beat, my right hand will automatically do the same if I even attempt to tap it with a different beat. Like a 7/8 or what. Will it be hard for me to learn the violin? Since the bowing hand & the fingering hand does different actions..

I think the sound of a violin is really beautiful & I would like to be able to play it myself. I already know how to play acoustic guitar & I’m quite good at it. I’ve always wanted to play electric guitar all of my life but they were offering violin lessons at school for free so i did that. I started playing violin when i was 10 (in 5th grade) & stopped at 18 (after graduation from high school) to give myself a break. I’m 20 now & i’ve recently been listening to a lot of rock music (i like tokio hotel, nickelback, & almost every rock group from the 80’s) & i wanna play just like them. Even though i’m 2 years rusty from playing the violin, with my background, will it be hard? How similar or different is guitar to violin? If i take lessons with a teacher, how long will it take me to be good at it? How long will it take me to play any of those rock bands’ music?
