Violin Answers

i just got my violin, & wanted to learn how to play it. & when i bring the bow across my strings it wont make a sound, you can hear it trying to make a sound but it just sounds scratchy, i have rosined the hell out of my bow trying to get it to play but it wont work T_T help?

I’m trying to learn some awesome ‘guitar hero’ type songs for my electric violin–I’m looking for the Metallica ‘One’ type of thing, you know? The minor, pretty, yet impressive type of song. Any suggestions would be great, guys. =]

1) when i play my violin, & we’re not even going that fast, on up bows i seem to crunch & let my bow go too far. i think this might be cuz im left handed & don’t have much control over my bow arm. i thought your grip should be kind of light & loose, & it really frustrates me when we are playing extremely quiet fast notes like 16th notes & i crunch & i can’t stop my arm. i’ve never been that great at bowing
2) i can’t play pianicimo or pp idk how to spell it. like when we are at concerts & everyone is playing extremely quiet, i can’t. i will do the same thing & let my bow fly & make it too loud. so i fake bow at moments like that.
3) once we played ratatouille, where there were like 10 measure of sixteenth notes in 3/4 or commontime, & i couldn’t play them like i cant move my arm that fast…it was easy too like it was a really fast scale just like in sixteenth notes really fast & i can’t do it & it sucks! i get really frustrated with myself & i can’t do anything right. UGH

im 15 & i just bought a violin i tuned it & applyed the rosin but i cant read music please some1 please tell me where i can learn to play/ read music / but i dont want to buy anything or hire anyone let me know thank you gby

It seems like every time I want to play my violin quietly & softly, the sound is very scratchy. I’ve been playing the violin for about five years & ever since I got a new violin after the first year, I haven’t been able to play quietly & smoothly at the same time. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Please any help will be great!

i cant get it re-haired because most music shops are closed around the holiday season & i have to get my bow back in shape before the 8th of january because im going to the usa with my violin..im panicking! what can i do??

I have a very new violin that was given to me. I need to put what skills I do have to play it once again. I don’t have the $ for lessons. I am rusty & have a practice book.. I am tired of hearing a screechy sound. I have not played violin in almost 10 years, but still remember all the notes & strings.
Any suggestions.

How can prevent this from happening? I do keep my bow & violin in a case.

The strings just get loose & the twisty thing just untwists Help!

Ok, this is just p**sing me off 2 no end!! I’ve been playing for 9 years, & can usually tune my violin no problem, but i just got a new violin (full size), & it just keeps slipping!!!!!! i push my peg in, but it still keeps slipping, & i need my violin tonight for a rehersal… & i haven’t played in a week, so i’d like to play before it so i don’t look like a complete n00b… any tips on how to tune would be grealy appreciated….
P.S i’ve already broke the G & A string… luckly i have spares…. but it’s pissing me off 2 no end!

Its new & I heard that it is hard to get a new violin to stay in tune. I tried using the putty you can put on the pegs to keep them from slipping, but it still isnt working. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do? I know I could take it in & have it worked on but that will cost me a fortune. Any good ideas?
