Violin Answers

The mouse chewed the bellows of a church organ, making it inoperable. In order to have some music for Christmas, the priest scribbled out a simple tune for a violin, with simple lyrics. It became one of the most famous Christmas carols.

I’ve played violin for 6 years now & last year i took up viola AS WELL as the violin as i had wanted to help the orchestra. But now that i have adjusted to viola & can play it equally as well as i can play violin, the teachers have been sneakily taking my violin playing away.
After i started viola we went on music camp whilst i was still playing violin in the intermediate strings, which they had placed me in 2nd violin but the music was far too easy for me & the teacher that was running us for camp wanted to place me in 1st violin. When we got back to school I was not allowed to play in 1st violin but they did not give reason to me. so the teacher from music camp gave me a few 1st violin pieces & said to play them sitting in 2nd violin (which was a little embarassing because on stage it made me look like i was making mistakes) now the year is over they want me to play viola in intermediate strings & are making me AUDITION for senior when they promised me a place. They have made remarks to me along the lines of ” you should audition but the standard in senior strings is very high” when there are several people who are behind me in violin who are in chair 2nd senior strings. These disadvantages i feel are also because i learn outside of the school with whom i feel is one of the most inspirational people i’ve met, so they seem not to “know my playing”
I know that on monday no matter how well i play they will say “another year & then you can come into senior strings for violin” & that is the year when the viola player from senior strings graduates & me being the next best, they will want.
They desperatley want me to play viola in intermediate strings but i know that they WONT let me play violin in senior strings if i do this for them. so If i make the remark ” if i dont get into seniors i think ill stick to violin in intermediate” i might get a years worth of violin in senior. but im not sure how to deal with this because i find it selfish that the school is using me for my instrument when i have loyally & helpfully played & sung with the school for 3 years now.
Is there any way (besides quitting) that i can get rid of this injustice?
My violin teacher told me before i even started viola that this is what would happen. & i almost regret it now.
but i love botth instruments & can’t quit.
My school makes me feel really low about violin & i hate the way they seem to look down on me.
any advicee?

I have a violin teacher, but I practice Bluegrass when I should be practicing Classical. So, really, I can’t play any one song, perfectly, because I have my music all mixed up. I HEAR bluegrass in my head all day, but I figured if I could play violin music, I could play ANYthing.

How can prevent this from happening? I do keep my bow & violin in a case.
