Violin Answers

lol my music teacher & I were discussing this yesterday at my lesson…
She said that as an adult if I don’t play anymore & I want to pick it up again, I should just open up my scale book, play a few, get familiarized with the fingerings & stuff. After that open up your book of studies or etudes & you can try & play a few of the old ones that you used to play. If you feel like you can, try going on to songs.
If you don’t have your music anymore, just go to a music store, buy a scale book (if you forgot the key signature for each one. if you know the key signatures for each scale it’s pointless to buy a scale book), & buy a study book. If you’re planning on sticking with it for good, be bold & pick out a book of pieces that you are sure you can play after practicing for a while. Don’t expect to be Vivaldi or something after 20 years of not playing.

I’m going to take violin, & I’m also interested in the cello. So I was wondering if after taking the violin for maybe one or two years, would the cello come pretty easy? Someone told me I could take them both at once, but I know that wouldn’t work because I’d get the notes & finger placements mixed up. Please help.

I have been playing the violin for over 5 years, & I have a shoulder rest & everything, & this has only started happening recently.
I have recently got a full size violin, when I previously had a three quarter size one; could this have anything to do with it? I have tried holding the violin in as many different ways as possible, but obv. it doesn’t make a difference.
Please say if that is not enough information, & I will try to add anything that might help. Thanks.

I’m a violinist but when i started university I didn’t have time to play very often. Now I want to start again but it has been in its case unplayed for over a year with the strings loosened. What do i need to do to get it ready to be played again?

My bridge popped out last night when I was performing (yes, VERY disastrous) so I re-set it this morning. I’m fairly certain I did it correctly. I put the feet between the notches on the F holes & as close to the original grooves it had left on my instrument as I could get it. I asked someone at the music store how to do it & I followed their instructions. When I tuned my instrument again, it went out of tune really easily as if I had just restrung it. Is that normal?

I’v been scratching up the rosin after a couple strokes, which is when there is no white powder left on the cake. Should I be doing that?

I have replaced the oxygen sensor, replaced the hoses, tightened the gas cap, new battery, how can I stop it from coming on? TThe engine is great no blow by runs like a tuned violin except for this. thank you for your answers.

I have been playing the violin for a while & I keep have that ache after I play the violin no matter how many times I had adjusted the shoulder rest. Please give me an advise or at least tell me how I can adjust my shoulder rest.
