Can Anyone Give Me Some Pointers On Bowing An Electric Guitar?

You know, playing an electric guitar with a violin bow, like Jonsi from Sigur Ros, or any other artists who do this. I’ve tried, but so far it hasn’t worked out so well. Can anyone give me any tips?

Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin developed this method & one thing is not to rosin the bow & let it lightly, very lightly cross the strings. Get yourself a copy of “The Song Remains the Same” or any post mid career live Zep DVD & he’ll show you how its done; If you are looking for the single note zingy bow sound that comes from an E-bow which is a battery powered device you hold & stimulate the string magnetically. Its cool. The bowing thing though is so done. Whitesnake, Zep & virtually every classically influenced metal guitarist has done it. Its a nifty visual gimmick. You’ll chew through bows too.
