    Bowing is a three-pronged effort…you have to find the correct balance between 1. Bow pressure 2. Bow speed 3. contact point to the instrument. Different combinations of these will produce a unique sound.
    If your bow jumps, then you need to determine when & why. Does it skip all the time? Look at your bowhold & troubleshoot there. Does it skip right after a retake? You may be setting your bow back down too far from the frog. With stringed instruments, every detail means something…you just have to try them all & crack the code.
