Good Violin Songs? (not Classical)?

I’m a rather interesting individual & I recently started playing violin. I love the sounds & tunes it can make… but none of the current music (with violin) is really catching my eye. I like 3OH!3, Nevershoutnever!, Stereo Skyline, etc. Anybody have any ideas for music WITH VIOLINS that I might like? Please & thank you.

Considering some of the bands you mentioned, there is not alot of violin music in popular music.
That said there are a couple of performers that you might like.
As ♫LuckySum♫ pointed out, Vanessa Mae is a popular if not overly talented violinist, who has made a name for herself.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ798THmR…
Miri Ben-Ari – is very definitely cut to the same mold as well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CCkagE15…
Along those lines, is the popular classical outfit called the Bond Girls, a British import clearly able to command a decent quartet in the popular circuit.
They tend to however over-depend upon the other facets of their music sampling etc rather than have the violins be the main focus.
This is such that some people may suggest, that with all three performances, they take well known classical pieces, “pimped out” (so to speak) & throw an occasional violin fiddling in there from time to time.
    Explosive – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cmx9itey…
Consider the original piece as here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrHvnicQl…
As compared with Bond’s “Viva” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WrKdlDqM… – this is just a “tiny bit” pimped out version of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter piece of the Four Seasons”, with a heavy bass-line & some explosions.
So, that said from a purely technical perspective, I’m not sure that’s what any of these young ladies is really looking do is convey to the audience that they have a high degree of skill with their violin playing. They are entertainers first, performers second.
But alot of times people consider violins – unless they are pimped out with explosions, as “old” music. But that’s not really true.
There is of course the last entry along these lines “Beethoven Virus” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zzMk0NEj…
I submit a couple of these songs – produced by equally modern performers who are also VERY good.
Here the violin is an accompaniment to a piano & a mandolin but it’s essential for the piece.
    Hem’s 1/2 Acre – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR0CWvbl5…
There’s some non-traditional, modern Violin music which is (I think) really quite good : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvbCV6E0W…
One of my favorites is from the show Battlestar Galactica – of all things they managed to find themselves a full on musical genius Bear Mc Creary (all of 22 years old) for their composer who’s got a “thing” for violins – It’s classical, but it’s modern but it definitely surprises people when they hear it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tII1DSHPU…
There is a Japanese pop fascination with “Victorian” & or “Vampire” themes (I think I just cop to being a Gaijin (Gaijin is a slightly insulting term for being Non-Japanese) in trying to figure out Japanese pop culture – since I’m still have problems telling slightly depressed Goths from Emo’s)
That said here’s a variation of the Cello piece “Cannon Wakeshima” – the theme music from Vampire Knight – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Xkxs4eA… – while a violinist or cellist will blanche at the idea we will for our conversation simply consider a cello a large violin.
And in that way, you could also consider this piece by Sting which is absolutely haunting & a variation of Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé – Romance, written during some of the very dark days of the Cold War.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rk78eCIx…

Why would you post your question in the classical section when you don’t want classical music?
    You ma’am… are an idiot.

XD If you didn’t want classical songs, why did you post in the classical section? That’s mainly what we know about.
