A good quality musical instrument is typically very expensive. But many Music stores will let you rent them for a monthly fee. I believe that once you have paid the monthly fee for an certain number of months they will let you keep the instrument as if you had bought it. But I don’t quite know how much you are willing to spend so I can’t give a very accurate answer. There are also many other factors that go into the selection of a violin, that again ,depends on what you are personally interested in. If you have the time i suggest you go to a local music store & ask the employees about various ways to obtain the type of instrument that you are looking for.
    Hope this helps.

Exact same thing happened to me! Here’s the deal with the buying a violin:
    you could either
    1. Rent a violin. Great option for a beginner, but costly in the long run.
    2. Buy one. Although most instrument stores will be genuinely concerned that you get the best violin for your money, some will just want your money, pretty much. Here’s what I suggest:
Contact a reputable violin teacher first, then ask them for assistance choosing a violin. Trust me, Its easy to buy a crap violin- nearly did it myself!
I bought a good ‘Gliga student’ violin for $1000 Australian.
    It’s still going strong.
Good luck & let us know how you go =)
