http://www.concordmusic.com is awsome for strings. Im not sure if they have “true” gut strings but the new Passione strings are farily good for a gut sound as well as oliv strings as they use gut cores. They will tend to break more often than metal core strings

Be prepared to buy several sets. They break frequently & the E string often breaks while installing it.
My favorite Brand is not gut
I use Piastro Wondertone. You can do a web search & find them, or go to the local music store. If they don’t have them they can get them.
Are you a player in Baroque performance practice (aka “HIP” – historically informed performance). If so, the top of the line gut strings are hand made by a fellow named Damian Dlugolecki. See:http://www.damianstrings.com/
You can also buy a more commercial product, the Corelli strings. I think SHAR & others carry them.
Gut strings are not used on contemporary instruments, however. Only on baroque instruments…
I buy all my strings from http://www.sharmusic.com
I personally don’t like the Wondertones as the person above mentioned. My A string unwound & went false only a few days after I obtained it. Although I have to say, the Wondertone Solo E strings are pretty decent. I’ve become quite fond of the Infeld Reds on my violin, because the warmth & smoothness of the sound in absolutely incredible. I use an Universal E String, & I find it to be my all time favorite of all E strings.
You really do have to look around & actually try the strings on your violin for yourself though. Each string will sound different on each instrument.
